Academic Background

PhD (2009):   With Prof. Armido Studer, Westfälische Wilhelms-University of Münster, Germany and completed his PhD as a member of International Graduate School of Chemistry. Most of his doctoral thesis work was based on transition metal free C-C-coupling reactions of Grignard reagents.

MS (2006):  From Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where he worked (1.7 years) with Prof. Goverdhan Mehta and developed an elegant approach towards the total synthesis of bioactive natural product ʽʽTetrodotoxinʼʼ.

​

BSc (2003): In chemistry (honors) from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, University of Calcutta. Secured First Class Second rank in the University.

Professional Experiences

August, 2019 - Present: Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India.

 

December, 2013 - July, 2019: Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India.

May, 2013 - November, 2013:  Second postdoctoral research with Prof. Martin Oestreich of Technical University Berlin, Germany as UniCat postdoctoral fellow. Here he developed new chiral Ru-catalysts for asymmetric hydrosilylation reactions.

​

March, 2010 - April, 2013: First Post Doctoral Research with Prof. Magnus Rueping of RWTH Aachen University and received Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship. Here he acquired a deep insight into the field of Asymmetric Organo-Catalysis (Brønsted acid and Enamine catalysis).
